2014 provides three methods to download and install Microsoft SQL Server :
SQL Server 2014 DVD image: You can use this ISO image to burn your own DVD.
From the assessment center ISO download the following files:
SQLServer2014-<architecture> - < language > iso.
Use your DVD burning software , select Burn DVD from . ISO image option. When you are prompted for a file you want to use , select the image file you have downloaded . After burning DVD, the DVD locate and double-click Setup.exe to start the installation .
SQL Server 2014 CAB files:
From the assessment center to download the following files to a temporary directory on your device:

Download is complete, double-click the SQLServer2014-<architecture> -. < Language > exe to start the installation process.

Introduction .
What to do when the evaluation copy of SQL Server expires or you want to change the product key to a SQL Server instance?
Sometimes we use an evaluation copy of SQL Server for projects that require to start its implementation and for which we still do not have SQL Server licenses, because of delays in the process of buying licenses in organizations.
Sometimes products keys already used in previous installations of SQL Server are used to make new installations, while we wait for new product keys to arrive.
When the licenses and product keys arrive, at times so late that the evaluation period has expired, we ask ourselves if we need to uninstall the instance and reinstalling it, or if there is some method that allows us to keep the instance installed with the configuration and current programming, as well as with schema and data that the databases have.
The answer to these questions is that it is only necessary to perform an edition upgrade of the evaluation edition instance to a licensed edition, retaining the configuration, programming and current data of the instance. Let's describe the procedure to perform this upgrade, which should be done with a Windows account that has administrative rights on the server.
Edition upgrade to a licensed edition .
Run the Microsoft SQL Server setup program and the SQL Server Installation Center will be presented to you as shown below.
Once in the SQL Server Installation Center, click on Maintenance, and then click select "Edition Upgrade". Take a look at a the image below.
Now the System Configuration Checker will perform checks looking for conditions that may prevent a successful installation. If no blocking issues are detected you will be able to click on Next, as shown below.
On the next page of Setup more checks will be performed.
On the Product Key page, enter the product key that will be associated with this SQL Server instance. Sometimes you will find that the product key is pre-pidded.
If you started the upgrade process aiming to change the product key for the instance, on this page you have the opportunity to change the product key of the existent instance.
In the License Terms page, read the licensing agreement, select "I accept the license terms", and then click Next.
In the "Select instance" page, select the instance on which you want to apply the update. The page is shown below.
Then we are presented with a page where more checks are performed by SQL Server setup. If the computer meets all the requirements, you can proceed to click Next, as shown below.
Finally, we come to the “Ready to upgrade edition" page, where we can visualize a summary of the options chosen in the previous pages of the SQL Server Setup program. You can click on the Upgrade button to proceed with the upgrade.

How to install it
Step 1. Run the Setup.exe file.
Step 2. Installation : Click on “New SQL Server Failover Cluster Installation”
Step 2. Installation : Click on “New SQL Server Failover Cluster Installation”
Step 3. Setup Support Rules
It will check your system environment before installing SQL Server to prevent Failure. Click “Ok” after successful completion of Operation.
Step 4. Product Key
Specify the edition of SQL Server 2014. If you have Product License key then select “Enter the product key” else select “Specify a free version”.
Step 5. License Term
Check “I Accept the license terms” and click “Next”. To “Send Feature usage data to Microsoft” also check second checkbox.
Step 6. Setup Support Rules
The wizard will now do some real checks and will provide you with a list of details which are either passed or failed.
Step 7. Setup Role
Select “SQL Server Feature Installation”, click “Next”.
Step 8. Feature Selection
Select all the features you want to install. Like Database Engine Service, Client Tool Connectivity, Client Tool SDk, etc as shown in snap.
Step 9. Installation Rules
This wizard will do couple more checks as we proceed. Click Next.
Step 10. Instance Configuration
In this step we will do the Instance configuration, Server configuration and the Database Engine configuration.
Step 11. Server Configuration
Specify the service account and collation configuration. Select the “Startup Type” and set password if you want to make it password authenticated.
Step 12. Database Engine Configuration
Select “Windows Authentication Mode” for General usage, Else select “Mixed Mode” and specify the password. Also add the User, click “Next”.
Step 13. Database Engine Configuration Cont.
Set the path for all Data Dictionary else leave it as it is and click “Next”.
Step 14. Installation Configuration Rules
This Wizard will do one final round of checks before doing the install.
Step 15. Ready to Install
Check all the Features to be installed and click “Install”.
Step 16. Complete
Now your SQL Server 2014 installation completed successfully.

Conclusion
You are not able to work with a Microsoft’s SQL database. As you can see, there are several steps before completing SQL 2014 Installation, but when it’s completed, server is stable and offer you unlimited possibilities.

SQL Server 2014 CTP2 Available to Download
At the PASS Summit keynote today Quentin Clark announced that SQL Server CTP2 (which is public and the last public review) and is available right now to download here. It is also available as a VM on Azure. According to a tweet from Glenn Berry, the version number in the demo is 12.0.1524.
Before what you download and install, here’s what you ought to know;
- The Microsoft SQL Server 2014 CTP2 release is NOT supported by Microsoft Customer Services and Support (CSS), so you can’t call them up for support (though last time I did they asked if I was using SQL Server 2013…)
- The Microsoft SQL Server 2014 CTP2 release is available for testing purposes only and should NOT be installed and used in production environments.
- Side-by-Side installation with down-level production SQL Server instances as well as in-place Upgrades of down-level production SQL Server instances, is NOT supported.
- Upgrading from Microsoft SQL Server 2014 CTP1 to Microsoft SQL Server 2014 CTP2 is NOT supported.
Some highlights of improvements;
- Data Encryption: you can now choose to encrypt the backup file during a backup operation (how this works with data compression I do not know and would be interested to know). supports several encryption algorithms including AES 128, AES 192, AES 256, and Triple DES. You must use either a certificate or an asymmetric key to perform encryption during backup.
- Managed Lock Priority: WAIT_AT_LOW_PRIORITY for partition switch allows you to wait for blocking transaction to complete after a set period of time, and you can either abort the blocking transaction or your own transaction. A really good walk-through is up at SQL Performance.
- Delayed Durability: Essentially asynchronous log writes to disk; this means you can lose some data, but this is something you can tolerate if you have high contention and performance issues on writing to the t-log. This is something that has been added to the CTP 2 release. This feature is only accessible to In-Memory OLTP databases.
Interesting to note that there was no pricing or release dates for SQL Server 2014, nor indeed any info about updates for SQL Server 2012 (they were too busy cross promoting Skype and Surface tablets to focus on this…)
